Baylor Law Pairs Students with Seasoned Lawyers in Transactional Law Mentorship Program
At Baylor Law School, the Transactional Law Mentorship Program continues to elevate the educational experience for students interested in pursuing a career in transactional law. The program pairs students with experienced lawyers from a variety of transactional practices, offering a hands-on “job shadowing” experience that brings classroom knowledge into a real-world context.
Through these pairings, students gain invaluable insight into career pathways and exposure to the many facets of transactional legal practice. Mentors provide guidance on course planning, professional development, and offer wisdom from their own career journeys.
Beyond skill-building, the program fosters lasting professional relationships. Many students and mentors stay in touch well after the program concludes, creating a supportive network of transactional law professionals.
Both mentors and mentees alike praise the program for its impact. Here’s what a recent mentor and mentee shared about their experience:
“It was a pleasure getting to know Callum through the Transactional Law Mentorship Program. He consistently came to our meetings with a clear idea of what he wanted to discuss and thoughtful questions to guide the conversation. Callum’s professionalism, punctuality, and genuine interest in the nature of our work created space for meaningful discussion about both the rewarding and challenging aspects of transactional practice. I’m grateful for the opportunity to participate in the program and look forward to continuing to support future students interested in this area of law.”

“I really enjoyed the Transactional Law Mentorship Program, as it gave me the opportunity to connect with mentors like Josh, who took an active role in guiding me through questions about law school and career planning. Josh has a deep passion for Baylor and the transactional program, which really came through in our conversations. He was incredibly helpful in sharing insights from his own experience and offering advice that I found both practical and encouraging. Caleb was also an incredible mentor—personable, intelligent, and generous with his time. He played a key role in helping me better understand the transactional world and what a future in that space could look like. Ultimately, I’m thankful to Professor Miller for setting up the program and helping me build lasting connections with both of my mentors.”
