The Honorable Ignacio Torteya, III (BA ’92, JD ’95) Named 2025 Baylor Lawyer of the Year

Baylor Law School has named The Honorable Ignacio Torteya, III, United States Magistrate Judge for the Southern District of Texas, as the 2025 Baylor Lawyer of the Year. Judge Torteya received the award during a ceremony held on Friday, June 13, 2025, in Brownsville, Texas.

Baylor Law School Ranks Third Nationally in Full-Time Law Job Placement for 2024 Graduates

According to Reuters’ analysis of data released recently by the American Bar Association, Baylor Law School has achieved one of the highest employment rates in the nation for its 2024 graduating class. With an impressive 95.45% of Baylor Law’s juris doctor graduates securing full-time, bar-passage-required positions within ten months of graduation, the school ranks third nationally among the 195 ABA-accredited law schools.
