2019 Business Law Boot Camp
Baylor Law Hosts Fourth Annual Business Law Boot Camp April 28-May 3
National Experts Teach Students the Essentials of Business Transactions
Baylor Law will hold its fourth annual Business Law Boot Camp from Sunday, April 28th through Friday, May 3rd. The Boot Camp is a rigorous course consisting of a series of workshops held between the spring and summer quarters at Baylor Law. Students will delve into the practical aspects of business formation, commercial borrowing, raising capital, trademark and advertising issues, succession planning, selling a business, basic accounting, contract drafting, and negotiation skills. Due to the intensely interactive and hands-on design of the workshops, the Boot Camp is limited to just 24 second and third-year law students selected through a highly competitive application process.
In addition to an intensive weeklong series of workshops, Baylor Law students will have the opportunity to attend special networking events and receive professional development and mentoring from some of the nation’s most experienced business lawyers.
The Boot Camp is the brain-child of Elizabeth Miller, who holds the M. Stephen and Alyce A. Beard Chair in Business and Transactional Law. Professor Miller is a highly sought-after expert in business law and routinely teaches continuing legal education programs throughout the country. She is the co-author of a three-volume treatise on Business Organizations, and has served as Chair of the LLCs, Partnerships and Unincorporated Entities Committee of the Business Law Section of the American Bar Association as well as the Partnership and Limited Liability Company Law Committee of the Business Law Section of the State Bar of Texas. Professor Miller has been involved in the drafting of legislation affecting Texas business organizations for many years and has served in an advisory or membership capacity on the drafting committees for numerous prototypes, models, and uniform statutes and agreements relating to unincorporated business organizations. Professor Miller will be joined by distinguished business experts and transactional lawyers from Texas and other parts of the country to share their knowledge and experience with the students.
