Baylor Law’s transactional teams give students practical experience through transactional law competitions. Students prepare for and compete in events that reflect the work of transactional lawyers.
Some competitions focus on specific areas of law, such as sports law or health care law. Others involve business matters such as mergers and acquisitions, venture capital, or start-up companies.
Competition formats vary, but students develop many of the same skills used in transactional practice. These include legal analysis, drafting, client counseling, negotiation, and problem-solving. Students gain experience with skills used every day by lawyers in law firms and in-house legal departments.
