Getting to Know Mackenzie Steele
Why did you choose Baylor Law?
I chose Baylor Law because of the people I met who went here, and its reputation for training litigators. Everyone I met at Baylor was so nice and helpful as I was deciding where to go. The kindness of Baylor Bears has remained true since I started studying here. Secondly, I knew I wanted to do litigation, and this is the place to be for that. From LARC to Practice court, by the time graduation comes around, I will have the tools I need to advocate for my clients well.
What do you do for fun, and what all are you involved with at Baylor Law?
I love to walk the bear trail and get some fresh air. I also ride my bike around Waco. When I am not outside or studying, I like to read, bake, or crochet. At the law school, I am part of the Public Interest Legal Society, the Veterans Clinic, and the Trusts and Estates Clinic.
What advice would you give to someone thinking about law school?
Take a deep breath. There is a lot about law school that is stressful, but it’s manageable. Don’t be afraid to reach out to classmates who have been where you are. Join an org!! You need to build your community. And have fun. Law school is hard, but it should be fun.
