Jamarcus Ransom

  • Director of Community Engagement and Belonging

Jamarcus Ransom is a proud Baylor alumnus and first-generation college graduate from College Station, Texas. He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Management Information Systems from Baylor University in 2017 and is currently pursuing a Master of Higher Education and Student Affairs, which he will complete in May 2026. Immediately after graduation, Jamarcus began his professional journey at Baylor as Special Assistant to the Provost, starting a career dedicated to enhancing student success and belonging.

Since arriving on campus as an undergraduate, Jamarcus has worked to expand access to resources and strengthen Baylor’s culture of belonging. He believes that part of serving students involves helping them make the most of existing resources while supporting the creation of new ones.

Over the course of his career at Baylor, Jamarcus has served in several key roles, including Undergraduate Admissions Counselor and Residence Hall Director for Teal Residential College. In his role with Teal, he oversaw a community of more than 325 students and collaborated closely with the College of Engineering and Computer Science to strengthen student recruitment and retention. He also supervised a staff team that included Community Leaders, a Resident Chaplain, and an administrative assistant.

Beyond Residence Life, Jamarcus has been deeply involved in advancing Baylor’s mission of community and belonging. He has served as secretary of the Black Faculty and Staff Association, chair of the Campus Living & Learning Professional Recruitment Committee, and advisor to student organizations such as the Big XII Conference on Black Student Government and the Tau Alpha Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

He is excited to join Baylor Law as the Director of Community Engagement and Belonging. Jamarcus believes individuals thrive when they feel seen and represented. Passionate about helping students develop the skills to advocate for themselves and others, he views educational spaces as transformative environments where students learn to engage with the world, broaden their perspectives, and embrace the unfamiliar in ways that foster empathy, growth, and justice.

Outside of work, Jamarcus enjoys playing basketball, watching movies, and spending time with his family and friends.
