Colin Powell

Colin Powell is a partner at Hartline Barger LLP in Dallas, where he represents product manufacturers, transportation companies, oilfield services companies, and other businesses both small and large in complex and multidistrict litigation and has gained first- and second-chair trial experience in commercial and personal injury cases. Colin has been recognized among Super Lawyers® Texas Rising Stars by Thomson Reuters (2018-2026) and the Best Lawyers “Ones to Watch” (2022-2026). 

While at Baylor Law School, Colin competed on national mock trial and moot court teams, including at the Tournament of Champions, National Trial Competition, and AAJ Student Trial Advocacy Competition. He was the winner of the 2013 Bob and Karen Wortham “Top Gun” Fall Practice Court Mock Trial Competition. He was a member of the inaugural class of the Academy of the Advocate in 2013 and is excited to return as a faculty member for the 2026 Program. 

Colin serves as an adjunct faculty member at the SMU Dedman School of Law, where he coaches fall and spring mock trial teams. In his free time, Colin enjoys exploring the backroads of Texas behind the wheel of his Bronco in search of the next great barbecue spot.
