Interim Dean and Professor of Law Patricia Wilson Named William Boswell Chair of Law

Interim Dean and Professor of Law Patricia Wilson has been appointed to the William Boswell Chair of Law. The Chair was most recently held by Prof. Emeritus Michael Morrison, who retired in 2021. A member of the Baylor Law faculty since 1993, Interim Dean Wilson has taught a variety of courses, including the Property class following the retirement of legendary Property teacher Dean Angus McSwain.

Dean Wilson also taught courses in Employment Discrimination, Employment Relations, Labor Law, and Antitrust, among others, drawing on the experience she gained as an in-house attorney for American Airlines. Dean Wilson has shared her expertise at continuing legal education seminars in New York, San Francisco, and Chicago. Her presentations covered various important topics, including legal ethics and the intricacies of complex real estate negotiations.

Dean Wilson’s contributions extend beyond the academic sphere. She has played a significant role in the legal community, having served on the Consumer and Commercial Council where she served as the Secretary from 2006 to 2008, and as president of the Waco/McLennan County Bar Association in 2016. For more than 15 years, Dean Wilson served as a contributing editor for the State Bar of Texas’ General Practice Digest. Committed to making a difference, she dedicates her time and expertise to serving on the board of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship (including serving this past year as national Moderator), as well as with local nonprofit organizations. For 14 years, she was the driving force behind the People’s Law School, an annual event to make the law accessible to laypeople.

In 2016, Baylor University honored her as an Outstanding Professor for Contributions to the Academic Community.

Baylor Law currently has thirty-six full-time faculty positions and nine occupied endowed chairs.
