WACO -

The Texas Bar Foundation has selected Baylor Lawyer and Adjunct Professor of Law Ben Selman (JD ’73) as the 2022 recipient of the Lola Wright Foundation Award for outstanding public service and the promotion of legal ethics in Texas. The Texas Bar Foundation is the largest charitably funded bar foundation in the U.S. dedicated to educating members of the general public about their rights under the law, providing legal assistance to underserved populations, and assisting those who need the protection of the justice system.

“Not only is Ben a model of the skilled ethical lawyer, but he has also dedicated so much of his career in the law to promoting and assuring ethical practice in the legal profession,” stated Baylor Law’s Dean Brad Toben, adding, “He has a wonderful servant’s heart.”

Selman's professional career has centered almost exclusively on litigation, with extensive jury and bench trial experience, including several complex and multiparty cases, on both plaintiff and defendant sides of the docket. In addition to his role as adjunct professor, Selman focuses on proceedings involving the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services, Children’s Protective Services, legal ethics and professional responsibility, municipal liability, and emergency services liability and training.

Selman will be honored at the 2022 Texas Bar Foundation Annual Dinner later this year.
