Baylor Law Hosts National Transactional Law Competition, The Closer This Week

WACO

Baylor Law's sixth annual transactional law competition, The Closer, one the nation's preeminent law competitions, gets underway this week. In this innovative and invitation-only competition, students from participating schools vie to win a total of $10,000 in top prizes and bragging rights as a top closer.

The Closer is a highly selective competition with invitations extended to law schools whose programming demonstrates a commitment to excellence in practical transactional law training. The annual competition, another example of Baylor Law's commitment to providing practical opportunities for legal education, provides a high-pressure environment and hands-on exposure to one of the most important aspects of transactional law: contract drafting and negotiation. Students will compete before, and be judged by, accomplished and distinguished transactional law attorneys.

Schools that will compete this week in The Closer are:

  • Brigham Young University J. Reuben Clark Law School
  • Drexel University Thomas R. Kline School of Law
  • Emory University School of Law
  • Indiana University Maurer School of Law
  • The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law
  • SMU Dedman School of Law
  • University of Denver Sturm College of Law
  • University of Kansas School of Law
  • University of Mississippi School of Law
  • UMKC School of Law
  • University of Oregon School of Law
  • University of San Diego School of Law
  • University of Tennessee College of Law
  • University of Wisconsin Law School
  • The Closer is generously underwritten by the Kim and Bill Shaddock Fund for Business and Entrepreneurial Initiatives at Baylor Law.

As host, Baylor Law students do not participate.
