Study Abroad in Zambia
Zambia Juvenile Justice Field Placement

Baylor Law provides students with an exceptional opportunity to gain legal experience abroad through a field placement in Zambia. Selected students will spend 30 days working alongside Zambian lawyers at the Undikumbukire Project Zambia (UP Zambia), a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing legal services to juveniles charged with crimes.
During this placement, students work directly with Zambian attorneys and meet with young clients who are detained in adult prisons. They may accompany clients to court, assist with their cases, and help prepare appeals as needed. This hands-on experience offers students a firsthand look at a different legal system while enabling them to serve clients facing significant challenges.
The experience also includes recreational activities. Students participate in visits with UP Zambia clients in prisons and reform schools, engaging in activities such as chess, soccer, music, and karaoke.
In addition, students have the opportunity to explore the region through visits to Victoria Falls and a game park in neighboring Botswana. The combination of legal work, community service, and cultural experiences makes the Zambia field placement a unique opportunity for Baylor Law students.
