Katherine Sims
Director of Student Affairs
Katherine Sims serves as the Director of Student Affairs. She returned to Baylor Law in September 2016 as the Director of Admissions and Financial Aid and assumed her role in student affairs in September 2023.
Katherine is passionate about mental health and wellness and diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging and enjoys partnering with colleagues on important programming in these areas. In 2021 Katherine worked with Professor Bridget Fuselier to secure a grant from the Texas Bar Foundation to implement more consistent and comprehensive mental health and wellness programming, and she is committed to continuing those efforts as well as pursuing other opportunities to enrich Baylor Law students’ experiences. Katherine’s hope is for each Baylor Law student to find their place at Baylor Law and for them to develop healthy habits to take into practice, and she’s dedicated to helping students get there.
Katherine earned her B.A. in Speech Communication from Baylor University in 2006 and her J.D. from Baylor Law in 2011 and is a proud “double bear.” Upon graduating from Baylor Law, Katherine worked as a Project Attorney at King & Spalding, LLP in Atlanta, GA, where she managed discovery for product liability cases. Her desire to serve others led her to seek out a different path, and a conversation with a friend led her to law school admissions. Katherine joined the admissions office at Atlanta's John Marshall Law School in 2012, spent two years at Texas A&M University School of Law, and finally joined the admissions office at her beloved alma mater in 2016. Her strong desire to serve current students took hold in 2020, and she is thrilled she gets to work with and invest in future Baylor Lawyers every day.
Katherine is married to Tyler, a Georgia native and fellow attorney, whom she met while studying abroad in law school. They live in Hewitt with their German shorthaired pointer, Walker, and miniature dachshund, Bruiser. Katherine enjoys being active (Orangetheory, HotWorx, kickboxing, walking the Bear Trail), spending time with her 4 nieces, traveling, and cheering on her favorite teams (Baylor Bears, Georgia Bulldogs, and Texas Rangers).
