Ed Nelson
Director of Marketing and Communications
Ed serves as the Director of Marketing and Communications for Baylor Law School, where he fosters the development and implementation of the Law School’s strategic communication with a focus on digital platforms. Ed oversees Baylor Law School’s website, social media presence, and email marketing campaigns, ensuring cohesive and impactful messaging that strengthens connections with the school’s diverse audiences and elevates its reputation.
Ed collaborates closely with faculty and staff, providing expert guidance on public relations and communication strategies to highlight their achievements and initiatives. His innovative use of digital tools and storytelling has greatly enhanced Baylor Law School’s communication efforts, enabling the school to connect with diverse audiences. This approach fosters deeper engagement and helps build a vibrant, connected community within and beyond the school.
Before joining Baylor Law School, Ed was the Marketing and Communications Manager for the Minnesota Homeownership Center, where he led communications initiatives that educated thousands of Minnesota residents on purchasing homes and strategies to prevent foreclosure. His work during the foreclosure crisis played a vital role in supporting the community, earning him the designation of Non-profit Employee of the Year by the Minnesota Mortgage Association in 2015. Additionally, Ed received commendations from various organizations and elected officials for his advocacy and efforts to close Minnesota’s minority homeownership gap.
Ed also has a strong background in community leadership. He founded and served as the senior pastor of Centro Cristiano Nueva Esperanza, a Spanish-language church located in West St. Paul, MN. Through his preaching, teaching, pastoral care, and community outreach initiatives, he built a robust congregation committed to making Christ known and advancing God’s kingdom. He currently teaches an adult Sunday School class, creating a welcoming space for learning and growth, while also leading a supportive community group at Oak Grove Church in China Spring, TX.
Ed and his wife, Gema, are proud parents of a 2021 Baylor graduate who now teaches at Eagle Christian Academy.
