Join Baylor Law Review

There are several ways to become a member of the Baylor Law Review.

Grading on First-Year Grades

Students may be invited to join the Baylor Law Review based on their first-year grades. To qualify, a student must:

• Complete three quarters at Baylor Law.

• Rank in the top 15% of their entering class based on their GPA after those three quarters.

Students who meet both requirements are invited to membership.

Grading on by Upper-Quarter Grades

Students who have completed at least four quarters may also qualify based on their cumulative GPA.

To qualify, a student must:

• Have a cumulative GPA equal to or greater than the posted Cumulative Grade-On GPA.

• Be able to serve as a member of the Baylor Law Review for at least three quarters before graduating.

The Faculty Adviser calculates the official Cumulative Grade-On GPA. The calculation uses the GPA cutoffs from the four most recent First-Year Grade-On classes. Those four GPAs are added together and divided by four.

Writing on by Competition

Students may also earn membership through the write-on competition. To qualify, a student must:

• Complete at least two quarters at Baylor Law.
• Have a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
• Complete all requirements of the write-on competition.
• Be selected for membership by the Membership Committee.
• Be able to serve as a member for at least three quarters before graduating.

Writing on by Publication

A student who is not already a member may earn membership by submitting a note or comment for publication in the Baylor Law Review.

To qualify, the student must:

• Have a GPA of 2.5 or higher at the time of submission.
• Have the note or comment selected for publication.
• Be able to serve as a member for at least three quarters before graduating, unless exceptional circumstances apply.

Grading on Following a Transfer

Transfer students may qualify for membership based on their academic records before and after transferring to Baylor Law.

To qualify, a transfer student must:

• Have earned a GPA of 2.5 or higher at their previous law school,

• Have ranked in the top 15% of their entering class at their previous law school.

• Have a GPA of 2.5 or higher at Baylor Law.

• Be able to serve as a member for at least three quarters before graduating.

Transfer students are not eligible to grade on to the Baylor Law Review through any other method.
