In Central Texas, a unique collaboration is redefining what it means to build community. Shepherd’s Way, an innovative nonprofit dedicated to empowering young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, has partnered with the Baylor Law Entrepreneurship Clinic to ensure that its mission of independence is built on a strong legal foundation.

Shepherd’s Way operates on a transformative model of shared-living housing and holistic life coaching. By pairing participants with dedicated mentors, the organization helps individuals move beyond labels of disability into lives defined by vocational development, community integration, and spiritual growth. Its mission is simple yet profound: to ensure that no individual “falls through the cracks” for lack of resources or advocacy.

Through its partnership with the Baylor Law Entrepreneurship Clinic, Shepherd’s Way has worked alongside practice-ready student attorneys to navigate the complexities of nonprofit structure and governance. This collaboration allows Shepherd’s Way to focus its energy where it matters most—on the lives of the residents it serves—while providing future lawyers with hands-on experience using the law as a tool for social good.
