Joseph E. Shattuck, JD ’76: In June 2026, Joseph received the New Mexico Criminal Defense Lawyers Association’s Charles Driscoll Award in recognition of his criminal defense work.

The Honorable David L. Evans, JD ’79: In June 2026, David was reappointed by Texas Governor Greg Abbott as Presiding Judge of the Eighth Administrative Judicial Region.

James H. Barrow, JD ’84: James was recognized in the 2026 edition of The Best Lawyers in America® and on the 2026 Texas Super Lawyers® list.

Laura M. Alaniz, JD ’96: In June 2026, Laura was featured on the Listen Up! podcast to discuss the evolving legal landscape surrounding noncompete agreements in the maritime industry.

Jason B. Stephens, MBA ’97, JD ’97: Jason was recognized on the 2025 Texas Top Verdict™ list for obtaining two of the top five trucking settlements.

Erin A. Thomson, JD ’06: In June 2026, Erin became a partner at Antheros Legal. 

Timothy R. “Tim” Swearingen, JD ’06: In June 2026, Tim joined Jones Day as a partner in the firm’s real estate practice in New York City. 

Michael C. Roberts, JD ’12: In June 2026, Michael became a partner of expansion and complex litigation at LOAR in Austin, Texas. 

Ashley M. (Parker) Smith, JD ’12: In June 2026, Ashley was promoted to general counsel at Incline P&C Group. 

Devin A. Fletcher, JD ’15: In June 2026, Devin joined Moster Craft P.C. Attorneys at Law as an associate attorney in Austin, Texas.

John R. Schulmeister, JD ’16: In June 2026, John opened his firm, Schulmeister Law Group in Allen, Texas. 

Amanda R. Sanchez, MBA ’16, JD ’17: In June 2026, Amanda joined abip CPAs & Advisors as a principal in the strategic tax advisory service group.

John W. Laughlin, JD ’23: In June 2026, John joined Gibson Dunn as an associate attorney in Dallas, Texas.
