Students Ryan Glass, Wyatt Hicks, Whit Long, and Kenadie Wilde worked together to form the Baylor Law Real Estate and Construction Organization (BLRECO), with the primary goal of connecting students with alumni and resources in both real estate and construction law. The executive committee recognized a contingent of students interested in these practices, both for transactional and litigation work, and wanted to create an organization with these areas as a priority. Officially formed in early Fall 2025, BLRECO already boasts dozens of members and a full leadership team.

Professor Kayla Landeros, JD ’08, serves as BLRECO’s faculty advisor. With her extensive experience in real estate and construction transactions, including her role as City Attorney for the City of Temple, she is an ideal fit to help students develop their careers. Over the next year, the team looks forward to working with firms to facilitate connections and learning opportunities, including an already planned Lunch & Learn with Jones Walker and a pending construction workshop with Allensworth Law. BLRECO also connected with Habitat for Humanity Waco to start a consistent volunteering relationship, helping build homes for members of the Waco community and selling recycled building materials. Further plans include alumni networking events, on-campus panels, attending CLEs, and conducting interviews with expert witnesses – all designed to prepare students for practice.
