Hon. Kenneth R. (Kent) Chambers, JD '88, began serving as Justice on the 9th Court of Appeals on July 1, 2024. The court sits in Beaumont, Texas, and serves as the appellate court for ten Southeast Texas counties. After winning the Republican Primary on March 5, Justice Chambers was appointed to the bench by Governor Greg Abbott when the sitting Justice, Hollis Horton, announced his retirement effective June 30. Justice Chambers will serve the remainder of Justice Horton’s term, which expires on December 31. Because Chambers is unopposed in the general election in November, he will then serve his six-year term, which begins January 1, 2025.          

Michael E. Jimerson, JD '93, County and District Attorney for Rusk County, Texas, has written his second novel, Draw a Hard Line.

P. Wes Black, JD '99, was named Partner at Lyons & Simmons in Dallas.

Amanda G. Taylor, JD '04, a Board-Certified Civil Appellate specialist with Butler Snow in Austin, was named one of Austin Monthly Legal Elite’s Top Attorneys of 2024 for her exceptional work within the city. 

Sarah Smith, JD '06, is a Partner with Dinsmore & Shohl in Houston.

Alex Bell, JD '09, a Partner with Zeigler Gardner Bell in Dallas, was selected Citizen of the Year by the mayor and city council of University Park, Texas for 2024 for his contributions to better the city and community at large.

Amanda F. Hobbs, JD '10, has joined Brown & Fortunato. She is a Senior Attorney in the firm’s Health Care Group in Dallas.

Chloe Sease, JD '18, is an attorney with Diggs & Sadler in Houston.

Paolo Ferrel, JD '22, has joined the Dallas office of Wood Smith Henning and Berman.

Erika A. Emmons, JD '23, has joined the Dallas office of Steptoe & Johnson PLLC as an Associate in the Litigation Department.
