Baylor Lawyer Cindy V. Tisdale Elected President-Elect of the State Bar of Texas

Baylor Lawyer Cindy V. Tisdale (JD '95) of Granbury was sworn in as President-Elect of the State Bar of Texas during the State Bar's Board of Directors meeting on June 9, 2022. Tisdale will serve as the Bar's President from June 2023 to June 2024. She is the owner and principal of the Law Office of Cindy V. Tisdale and is Of Counsel at Lynch, Chappell & Alsup in Midland.

Tisdale earned her Juris Doctor from Baylor Law in 1995 and is board-certified in family law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. She served as the 2013-2014 chair of the State Bar of Texas Board of Directors, the 2017-2018 Chair of the Texas Bar Foundation, and the 2017-2018 Chair of the Family Law Section. She is currently the President of the Texas Academy of Family Law Specialists and recently joined the executive committee of the Texas Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.

Tisdale is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, a Fellow in the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, a Fellow in the International Academy of Family Lawyers, a member of the Texas Bar College, a member of the Pro Bono College of the State Bar of Texas, and is a frequent author and presenter for continuing legal education courses.

"I am honored and humbled to be the President of the State Bar of Texas for 2023-24," stated Tisdale after being sworn in. "My time at Baylor Law School not only prepared me to practice law but to be a contributing member of our profession through my voluntary service. I am proud to be a lawyer, and I am proud to be a Baylor lawyer," she added.

"Baylor lawyers have always risen to meet the challenges of leadership in both the legal field and in our communities," said Baylor Law Dean Brad Toben. "Given this tradition and history, we are honored that the members of the State Bar of Texas have chosen Cindy to serve as President-elect of the second-largest bar organization in the nation. As in everything she does, Cindy will excel in this leadership position."

With more than 100,000 active members, the State Bar of Texas is an administrative agency of the Supreme Court of Texas. Created by The State Bar Act, adopted by the Texas Legislature in 1939, the Bar's mission is to support the administration of the legal system, assure all citizens equal access to justice, foster high standards of ethical conduct for lawyers, enable its members to serve their clients and the public better, educate the public about the rule of law, and promote diversity in the administration of justice and the practice of law.
