Entrepreneurship Clinic Spotlight: Anchor Academy, Inc.
In early 2024, the Baylor Law Entrepreneurship Clinic began collaborating with Staci Daniel, the founder of Anchor Academy. Staci, a pediatric speech-language pathologist with 20 years of experience working with children with disabilities, was inspired to establish a Christian-centered therapeutic school for children with disabilities in Central Texas.
Anchor Academy addresses the educational needs of children with behavioral challenges and developmental delays, aiming to provide a place of healing and ministry within the disability community of Central Texas. The school adopts a Gospel-focused, whole-child, family-centered, and holistic approach to education, ensuring accessibility for children with diverse behavioral, communication, physical, and medical challenges.
Feeling overwhelmed by the legal requirements of creating a nonprofit organization, Staci reached out to the Baylor Law Entrepreneurship Clinic, describing the Clinic as an answered prayer after her initial meeting. Clinic students promptly began drafting the organizational documents and continued supporting Staci throughout the process. Staci appreciated the Clinic’s guidance, noting how they facilitated the process and provided valuable learning opportunities.
Anchor Academy plans to open in the fall of 2025 and hopes to increase enrollment and gradually expand its student age range. Future initiatives include offering summer camps, securing scholarship funding through local church partnerships to eliminate financial barriers, establishing community support groups and mentorship programs, and facilitating connections between new and experienced families navigating similar challenges.
