What is BriefCatch?

BriefCatch is a MS Word plug-in offering editing suggestions you can implement in real-time. The program not only catches common mistakes but also spots editing and advocacy opportunities that many lawyers and other writers miss. After each suggestion, just click “Change” or “Ignore.” You can also get feedback on the readability and flow of your entire document and even generate a tailored, custom report.

If you make some of the suggested edits, your writing will be more concise, polished, and convincing. And you’ll save time.

BriefCatch currently works with both Mac and Windows versions of Microsoft Office.

How to Install

1. Please verify you have Microsoft Office 365 on your machine (download it at portal.office.com)
2. Register at https://app.briefcatch.com/register/enterprise-baylor-university/ (Use your Baylor email and a unique password when registering)
3. Install BriefCatch as an Add-In to MS Word:
   1. Open Microsoft Word and go to the Home tab.
   2. Click on [Add-Ins] or [Get Add-Ins] (depending on your version of Office).
   3. Search for BriefCatch and click on it to install.
   4. After installation, you can start using BriefCatch by clicking on the BriefCatch icon in the Home tab.
4. When prompted, use your Baylor email address and the password you created in step 2
