Adjunct Professor of Law
Christopher M. Schultz serves as an Adjunct Professor in Baylor Law’s Executive LL.M. Program in Litigation Management and J.D. Trial Advocacy Program, which is ranked second in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. He also helped create and serves as the first Adjunct Professor in Baylor Law’s new J.D. distance learning program offered in collaboration with BARBRI Legal Ed, which delivers innovative courses developed at Baylor Law to fill curriculum gaps at law schools nationwide. In these programs, Chris has created and currently teaches courses related to discovery and eDiscovery law and practice, digital evidence, pretrial practice, and civil procedure, data privacy and security, and international litigation management.
Chris previously spent nearly two decades as a commercial and intellectual property litigator with Perkins Coie LLP, an Am Law 50 firm where he founded and co-chaired one of the first full-service eDiscovery legal practice groups in the country. Thereafter, he served as Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Level 2 Legal Solutions where, in addition to serving as the chief legal officer, he helped coordinate all aspects of the firm’s legal process outsourcing and corporate compliance matters and led engagement teams assisting clients with a full range of litigation, litigation readiness, and discovery projects.
A dedicated member and long-time supporter of the Sedona Conference, Chris served as a contributing editor of the Conference’s groundbreaking Case for Cooperation journal article, the proclamation for which has been endorsed by over two hundred federal and state judges. He currently co-chairs and serves as a faculty member for the Sedona Conference Institute’s national eDiscovery Negotiation Training: Practical Cooperative Strategies advanced continuing legal education program, an application and invitation only, NITA-style immersion training program for experienced attorneys.
An avid sportsman, chess player, and choral music aficionado, Chris practices with the advice of Benjamin Franklin top of mind: an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Throughout his career, he has worked to anticipate and advise clients on the risks facing them in today’s complex legal landscape so that they can achieve their greatest success.
