Baylor Law School is proud to announce the launch of Counseller’s Corner, a new podcast hosted by Dean Jeremy Counseller, dedicated to spotlighting our students’ varied experiences. Each episode features an in-depth interview with a Baylor Law School student, highlighting their backgrounds, the events that led them to pursue a legal education, and their experiences in law school.

In an increasingly polarized world, Baylor Law School is taking proactive steps to equip future legal professionals with an essential skill set: the art of civil discourse. Starting this year, every first-quarter law student will participate in Baylor Law School’s newly developed Civil Discourse Workshop, a pioneering initiative led by Baylor Fellow and Professor of Law Leah Teague.

Baylor Law School proudly announces the winners of its annual nationally recognized transactional law competition, The Closer. This year’s co-champions are Caroline Hoover from the Ohio State University Moritz College of Law and Joshua Lucas Rojas from the University of Tennessee College of Law, whose exceptional performances showcased outstanding analytical skills, strategic thinking, and professional poise.

Anderson Tittle, a third-year JD/MBA student at Baylor Law School, has been appointed to the 2024-2025 Editorial Board of the American Bar Association (ABA) Law Student Division. This notable selection places her among a distinguished group of only nine law students from across the country who will oversee and develop content for Student Lawyer, one of the nation’s most influential publications for law students.

Due to the winter storm impacting Central Texas, Baylor Law School has transitioned to remote learning on Thursday, January 9, and Friday, January 10, 2025. In-person classes, events, and activities are canceled. Students should check their Baylor University email and the Baylor Law website for further updates.

The Baylor Law School Veterans Clinic honored Krupali Patel and Jessenia Ruiz with the 2024 Advocate of the Year Awards at a Waco-McLennan County Bar Association luncheon on November 8.
The award recognizes dedicated lawyers who serve Central Texas veterans and their families with free legal services via the clinic each year.

Elizabeth Fraley, the Gerald Reading Powell Chair in Advocacy, will serve as the Director of Practice Court beginning in February of 2025. Fraley will succeed Jim Wren, the Leon Jaworski Chair of Practice and Procedure, when Wren steps away from full-time teaching next year after nearly two decades of outstanding service on the Practice Court faculty. This appointment reflects Baylor Law School’s continued commitment to providing students with exceptional preparation for the practice of law.

The grit, discipline, and teamwork that defined these former athletes’ journeys did not disappear at the end of their college careers. They’ve found that the skills they developed over the years in practices and competitions have been invaluable in helping them thrive under the rigorous demands of a Baylor Law School education.
