Justice A. Lee Harris
Justice, Tenth Court of Appeals
Justice Lee Harris is a 1993 graduate of Baylor Law School. Judge Harris received his undergraduate degree from Stephen F. Austin State University, where he graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. From September 1, 2005, until December 31, 2014, Judge Harris served as the first judge of the County Court at Law of Hill County, Texas. Harris assumed the duties of Judge of the 66th Judicial District Court of Hill County, Texas, on January 1, 2015. Governor Greg Abbott appointed Lee Harris to the Tenth Court of Appeals in January, 2025.
Since 2010, Judge Harris has served as an adjunct professor in the Practice Court program at Baylor Law and as a Jaworski Fellow.
Before taking the bench, Harris was a partner in the firm of Moore & Harris. Serving primarily as a litigator, Harris tried numerous civil and criminal jury trials. From November 1999 to August 2005, he served as District Attorney Pro Tem of Hill County. Harris prosecuted approximately 600 felony cases during that time.
Judge Harris has also been a lecturer at the annual conference of state court judges hosted by the Texas Center for the Judiciary. He is known for a non-sense approach to judicial problem-solving, courtroom behavior, and tactics.
He and his wife, Holly, live near Peoria, Texas. They have daughters, Elizabeth and Sarah. Dr. Elizabeth Wagner and her husband, Jeff, blessed them with two grandsons. He is a deacon at Peoria Baptist Church, where he and his wife have provided the funds to endow the Judge Lee & Holly Harris Scholarship. Judge Harris also serves on the Board of Directors of Amigos Internacionales. Amigos is an organization that exists to aid in natural disasters, to help solve world hunger problems, and to provide safe drinking water, schools, orphanages, and safe harbor for children from sex trafficking in Uganda and across the globe.
