Professor Swenson received his J.D. cum laude from the University of Michigan in 1978 after receiving a B.S. in economics and political science from Iowa State University in 1973. While at the University of Michigan, Professor Swenson was on the editorial board of the University of Michigan Journal of Law Reform. After graduation, Professor Swenson served as a law clerk to the Honorable Talbot M. Smith, sitting with the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. Professor Swenson practiced with the Denver law firm of Holme, Roberts & Owen from 1979-1982, except for a leave of absence to serve as a legal writing instructor at the University of Illinois. Professor Swenson joined the faculty at Baylor Law School in 1982 and is currently the George G. Kelly Professor of Law. He served as the Associate Dean of the Law School from 1984 -1988 and has been Baylor's representative to the Law School Admissions Council since 1983. Professor Swenson's teaching responsibilities include the subjects of antitrust, intellectual property, sports law, and negotiable instruments. He also supervises law students in a legal services internship program and serves as Baylor's representative on the Board of Directors of the Lonestar Legal Aid Corporation. Professor Swenson is admitted to practice in the states of Colorado, Illinois and Texas.  He is an active member of various committees of the Intellectual Property Law Section of the American Bar Association.
