Erwin A. Elias served on the Baylor Law School faculty over the course of five decades.  Elias was highly active in professional and civil activities over his career, and served as the faculty advisor to the Baylor Law Review.

Elias earned his B.S. from Marquette University in Wisconsin in 1954.  He graduated from Marquette Law School in 1956, where he served on the Law Review Board of Editors and graduated in the top quarter of his class.  The following year, he earned an LL.M. from the University of Michigan.

Elias began his teaching career at Baylor in 1957.  During his tenure, he taught courses in contracts, administrative law, constitutional law, labor law, trade regulations, local government, conflicts of law, and jurisprudence.  He published a substantial number of scholarly articles for law review publications, and also submitted several reports for section committees of the American Bar Association.  He was for several years the faculty advisor to the Baylor Law Review.

Elias served as President of United Cerebral Palsy of Central Texas, Treasurer of the United Cerebral Palsy of Texas, and member of the Board of Directors of the McLennan County Rehabilitation Center and Legal Aid Clinic.  He was a member of the Texas Bar Association, the Waco-McLennan County Bar Association, the American Judicature Society, and the American Bar Association.

Elias retired from full-time teaching in 1995.  He died in 2003.
