The new home of Baylor Law School, the state-of-the-art Sheila and Walter Umphrey Law Center, recently opened for the Fall 2001
academic term. The project architect is SmithGroup, Inc. of Washington, D.C., which operates across the nation and abroad.
The three-story classically styled structure has 128,000 square feet and is located on the banks of the Brazos River. The site
features striking views and beautiful landscaping in a courtyard, on lawns and on a river terrace.
Principal donors include Walter and Sheila Umphrey, John Eddie and Sheridan Williams, and Harold and Carol Ann Nix. The current
Building and Endowment Campaign of the Law School has been remarkably successful in underwriting not only the new law center, but
also in significantly augmenting our endowment, which is applied principally to student scholarship support for our approximately
400 students.
Baylor Law School now has a home that reflects the excellence of our program! The pages in this section allow visitors to take a
virtual tour of the entire facility.
