Financial Aid Application Process
Academic merit scholarships for law students are offered through the Baylor University School of Law. These scholarships are available to entering students based primarily on undergraduate GPA and LSAT scores. You do not need to apply for these scholarships, and you will be notified with your letter of admission if you receive one. Likewise, you will be eligible for academic scholarships in your second and third years of law school based on high academic achievement, and you will be notified automatically if you receive one.
If you wish to be considered for need-based financial aid programs, you will need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) during the spring prior to the enrollment period for the fall or winter quarter, or the fall prior to the enrollment period in spring and summer quarters. File the FAFSA using FAFSA on the Web at www.fafsa.ed.gov after January 1st. You must include Baylor's Title IV School code - 003545. The federal processor usually has the results of the FAFSA to our office within eight to ten working days. All law students are considered "independent" for Financial Aid purposes, so applicants should not include their parents financial information when completing the FAFSA.
In some instances, additional information may be required. Therefore, please respond promptly to any questions from the Office of Financial Aid for additional information. When your financial aid file is complete and reviewed, you will receive an award notification and booklet from the Office of Financial Aid. The booklet will explain your financial aid offer any steps you will need to follow to finalize the awards.
