Congratulations Ed Cloutman , recipient of the Top Advocate award in the Lone Star Classic Invitational Mock Trial Tournament. Ed also tied for first in the categories of Best Cross-Examination and Best Direct-Examination.


Congratulations to the Baylor Administrative Law Moot Court Team!

The team of Stephen Pocsik and Melanie Fry won first place at the competition held this past weekend in Austin at the State Office of Administrative Hearings and in the Austin Court of Appeals. Steve was named Best Speaker and Melanie was 4th Best Speaker. The other Baylor teams of Amy Foster & Patrick Scott and Lauren Braddy & Cassie Hoyer were instrumental in the successful outcome. This is the third straight year that a Baylor team has won the competition.

Four Baylor Law students will compete at the 19th annual University of San Diego School of Law National Criminal Procedure Tournament on Oct. 18-20.

Bradley Thomas and Kimberly Schroeder while comprise one team while Rory Brewton and Rebecca Hild will make up the other Baylor team. Professors Rory Ryan and Bridget Fuselier will serve as team coaches.


Matt Acosta, Matt Cole, Niti Dalal, Joe Rivera and Cameron Weldon will compete at the 18th annual Tournament of Champions.

The mock trial tournament will be held at the National Institute of Trial Advocacy Education Center in Louisville, Colorado, on Oct. 25-27. Each year, 16 teams are invited to participate in the tournament. The invitations are based on a three-year performance record at the National Trial Competition and the ATLA National Student Trial Advocacy Competition, and performances at prior Tournament of Champions competition.


Stephen Baker, Desmond Cooks, Heather Kanny and Christi Smith will compete at the 17th Annual Cathy Bennett National Criminal Trial Competition.

Sponsored by the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and Thomas M. Cooley Law School, Oct. 17-20 in Key West, Fla.

Britt Clark, Aaron Mutnick, Chad Newman, Casie Rivas and Dan Stokes will compete at the Lone Star Classic mock trial competition from Nov. 8-10 in San Antonio.

Now in its seventh year, the tournament is sponsored by St. Mary’s University School of Law.
